many of us may experience this: watched a movie during childhood that impact on us so much that we'd still remember the character so clearly until today. One day, when u mentioned it to ur friends..u'd be astonished that others shared the similar experience with u..well..for those who were borned in the 80s will definitely heard of the movie "IT"..i hardly remembered the storyline, but i still remember the scary clown and his irritable laugh..
and during a-levels, we toked about this once..and somehw my friend managed to get the film..and with much anticipation, excitement and feeling a bit fearful, we watched the movie together. BUT...the whole movie wasnt at all scary!! it was totally different than what we'd expected..We were VERY scared before this whenever we mentioned the film, but watching it again brought a totally new feeling..and we were utterly disappointed.. after watching it for the 2nd time..the movie was kinda boring and some of the scenes seem funny..looking back at the old film, we just dun find the scenes believable..come to think about it, its kinda weird that our memory dun necessary match the reality..
see???its not scary at all..:P
today sc and i talked about this..and shortly after that, i went out to watch tv..and ironically, i saw hugh grant (one of my favourite actors) with curly hair, loose hawaiian style t-shirt and shorts which clearly indicated the fashion during the 90s..immediately i was glued to the sofa after that..the storyline was somewat familiar, and not long after that..i remembered that this was the movie "Four Weddings and a Funeral", one of the most talked about british film during the 90s..was still in primary school (the movie was released in 1994) when i watched this movie at home..but din appreciate it that time cos i was still young and innocent:p and therefore din finish watching it..
this time..i missed out the beginning of the film, but i continued watching it to see whether it was similar to wat i've remembered vaguely. This light-hearted english film is about a group of friends going to weddings where funny incidents happened. The story basically centres on the romance between a charming english man (Hugh grant, of course!!:P) and an American woman. They seem to run into each other at the weddings, but somehow they werent together due to some circumstances. The storyline was simple, but the characters were fun and there were lots of witty lines tat kept me laughing. Another part worth mentioning was the heartfelt recitation of W.H. Auden's "Funeral Blues" which was kinda moving (the whole poem was read by the dead old man's gay partner)
anyway, i cant say that its a great movie, but watching a relaxing and funny movie on a saturday nite certainly felt nice!! Plus, its not at all disappointing compared to "It":)
hugh grant still looks great despite the big flowery t-shirt:)

yahh!! IT scared the hell outta me last time.. the spider, the clown, the bloody toilet and etc...
but I know watching it again will ruin my memory...
like what happened to long mao aka Totoro by Hayao Miyazaki, which used to be one of my greatest fantasies...
and Neverending Story with the flying dog, Falcon. In my memory, it was a beautiful dog and when I goggled it, it's so ugly.
hahaha... but its good to find out how far our memory con us.
