Inverness Trip- 27th dec

This was the day when we'd to part with some of our frens..

the previous nite, all of us stayed up til very late..busy chatting and packing..

kailun and alex left early in the morning, followed by alan and sipeng..

it was 2002 when all of us first met each other in INTEC..1st time leaving home, staying in shah alam surrounded by mamak stalls, a total new environment for us..we've shared lots of memories there..and without realising, 5 long years have passed!! it was truly GREAT to meet up with the french prog frens- kailun, alex and alan after soooooo long!!!haha..everyone's changed since the last time we met, but the familiarity remained..there was still so much that we can tok and laugh about..i could still feel the warmth nw that i recalled the little INTEC reunion we had in Block J9...im really glad that u guys came to glasgow:)

Anyway, though we all woke up very early, everyone was in a rush that morning..and as usual, we had to walk extremely fast to the bus station..the 10 of us nearly missed the bus to inverness..:p

the journey to inverness took about 4 hours..

when we reached there, it was 2 sumthing..and once we reached inverness town..we saw yi shan, peifong suilin etc..haha!!

and to our amazement, the hostel we stayed was merely 5 mins walk from the bus station..lol!!

after settling down in the 10 ppl dorm..(all 10 of us stayed in 1 room) we walked around the town and went to morrisons to buy food for the next few days..even in morrisons, we could shop til very syok..ended up with tonnes of food!!

After that, we headed to Johnny Foxes for dinner..

the food was pretty good here!!

after the dinner we had a relaxed walk around the town..
very nice night view of the river..inverness town is pretty much isolated with few ppl around..very calming place..and it was ~C~O~L~D~ at night!!

each and every one of us had a solo picture with this bridge..lol..all the camera-sensitive ppl!!

once we were back to hostel..we met up with more and more of our coursemates..seemed like the hostel was invaded by pharmacy students..HAHA!!until the extent that whenever we see asians around..the guys in our group wil turned and asked us.."ur coursemates oso ar??!!wow!!!"

^-^

Edinburgh trip- 26th dec

On boxing day, we went to Edinburgh..

pohsen went to the bus stop to pick us up..haha..everyone was so excited to see him and surrounded him like he's some sort of celebrity..:p

the 1st place we went to was calton hill...
WAHHHHH...very nice weather and breathtaking scenery..

with professional photographers around..we managed to take nice pics (and weird pics) ..if u dunno wat i mean..pls read about sc's post about weird ahpek
as usual..the camera-sensitive guys..haha..

Next, we walked along the Royal Mile, situated at the Edinburgh Old Town.. Its a very long street connecting to the Edinburgh Castle..the last time i went to Edinburgh was with my parents..we spent half a day strolling along the street going to some of the old shops and there were also some street artists who were selling their paintings and all..

this time..there werent many ppl around..but the Royal Mile was still my personal favourite place in Edinburgh..along the way..there's countless specialized shop selling souvenirs and places of historical and cultural interest..

The classic UK red telephone booths spotted along the street..
front view of Edinburgh Castle..

also in front of the Edinburgh Castle..The scene from the castle..

Also went to the Scotch Whisky Experience right beside the Edinburgh Castle..

tried a few types of whisky..

When we were walking along the Royal Mile, we saw this:
sipeng: hey..this is the place where u shud stand and spit..and it'll bring u goodluck..

me : WAHAHAHAH..yah rite!!

sipeng: woi serious...why everytime when im serious nobody belif me?WHY??

hahaha...sorry sipeng..i shud've belif u..u're rite..:)
this is wat i found from wikipedia..

By the West Door of St Giles is the Heart of Midlothian, a heart-shaped mosaic built into the pavement marking the site of the former Tolbooth (prison). Tolbooth prisoners used to spit as they entered the prison, and this tradition is maintained by some people, who spit on the Heart for good luck as they walk past.

After that..we were back to the city centre of Edinburgh..visited the xmas market there as well, which was very much similar to the Glasgow xmas market..
this was taken at Princes Street...the very busy street with lots of shops around..still prefer the Edinburgh Old Town..:p

Do-re-mi..:P
Soon..it was time to part with our tour guide of the day-pohsen..Thanks a lot for bringing us around!!haha..we forgive u for not coming to glasgow..hiakz..

At the bus station..kailun hid my bag (sc being the mastermind behind:P)..i started to get rili nervous..and all of a sudden..kailun ran and "dramatically" showed that he found my bag..eeeee...good acting arr!!^-^...the whole situation was rili funny..but too bad i cant describe it thru words.. at that time i really cuaksai larr...:p
Before leaving edinburgh..

Back to glasgow at around 7 sumthing..since there were posters everywhere promoting Will Smith's I AM LEGEND that was released on boxing day..we figured it was worth watching.. so we rushed to watch the 9pm show..WE WERE REALLY RACING WITH TIME as we need to eat, send laundry, buy movie tickets in such a short time!!
however, the movie turned out to be a disappointment for me..it just ended abruptly and we were like "WAT???!!!"lol..had a good laugh about it..
Anyway, Edinburgh trip was fun ..as for the movie, it will certainly be something that we'll remember forever..:P

ONCE

thanks a lot to yannee..was reading through her blog and she recommended this movie..so i downloaded the movie thru tudou and watched it last nite..

"ONCE" is actually an Irish musical film taken during 2006. The movie was very realistic and down to earth, simple but beautiful..the shots were taken entirely in and around dublin and the songs were performed live..The two leads- Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova are both professional musicians and not trained actor/actress and the two became a couple in real life!! (Hansard is the singer in Irish Band "The Frames" whereas director Carney was the former bassist for the Frames).

Anyway, i was totally captivated by the music...IT WAS AWESOME!!!Hansard wrote most of the songs..and his voice is soooo powerful!!Irglova has a sweet voice as well..and i cant belif that she's only 19 this year!!i liked the songs so much that i HAVE to search for all of them today..:))) yup..i've posted the songs in my blog..HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!so do enjoy..:)

Glasgow trip Part2

On xmas day..

we went out quite late as most shops are closed on this day and even the public transport was not available!!
so we walked around glasgow..
WOW...a very nice pic taken by w.nien
in front of barony hall..the place where we had exams last semester..bergaya betul..

yeng ler??:P
outside Glasgow Cathedral (St Mungo's Cathedral)..just noe the name of this cathedral after checking thru wikipedia..:P Wanted to squeeze into the pic bt kena halau...*sigh*
U NOE WHY??

COS...the statue was stated as JAMES WHITE..thus the reason why JAMES was on one side and SIPENG was on the other side( he was wearing white jacket)...LAME!!!:P

very nice view from Glasgow Necropolis..

Glasgow Necropolis is actually a Victorian cemetery in glasgow..located very near to the Glasgow Cathedral..in fact we've never been there as well..ahaha..but i glad we found the place by accident
ooo..and according to wikipedia..this bridge is actually known as the "Bridge of Sighs" because it was part of the route of funeral processions..
this place is quite unique..

i mean..how often do u hear ppl visiting cemetery and take tonnes of pictures there?
see??macam taking MVs..
The tombs dont look scary too..in contrast, i find the place very serene..:)

since its located on a hill..we got to see nice view of Glasgow city..

oops..macam promoting ppl to visit the cemetery pulak..haha..

went to Glasgow Green for a while..GLASGOW GREEN was no longer GREEN as there were few leaves to be seen..
The empty street of glasgow..
The one and only time when Buchanan street was isolated..took our own sweet time to stroll along the street..
"grabbing" apple..:P

after that we went to chukoku for the xmas buffet..there was soooo much seafood available!!!lol..can still remember everyone's "WHOA!!!" expressions..we even bet who would eat the most...pun and alan became the hot pick..unexpectedly mashi seemed to win-he spent most of the time eating the seafood there (about 5+ plates??:P)

the consequences of eating too much??
....

sipeng ate til nearly vomited..hahaha...
i personally LOVE this two pics...
1st pic..can still pose like a star while alan and james were taking pics...the reflection from the mirror was so clear!!

eh....stop taking pics!!!
(the 2 cameras are still aiming at him) MUAHAHAHAH...

for the full version of wat happened..pls view suechoo's blog for the video..rili funny!!!!!
at nite..
we had a very relaxed session..e.g..guitar+singing..chatting..and i had fun playing taiti..hohoho..kailun and i are rili best partners in playing taiti..whole nite onli kalah 1 or 2 rounds eventhough mashi kept using his small eyes to peep our cards. alan also did the same to mashi, but i guess he din notice cos was too busy looking at our cards..hahaha...
basically..tats about it on our "glasgow trip"..glasgow city isnt that interesting compared to our following destinations..but its the companions we had that really made a difference..:)
