Dundee trip

2 weeks ago, k.hong and i spent our weekend in Dundee meeting up with frens..

Had a splendid dinner at a very big and nicely decorated Bangladesh restaurant called "Del'Se" after we'd reached dundee..
the 5 of us..
the food was very tasty and rich...there was this sweet +mango-ish taste sauce that i liked so much..haha..bt the indian ice-cream tasted a bit..umm..weird..it tasted a bit like almond/marzipan, which we dreaded..at last it was finished after passing around for..5 rounds?lol..

(me:hey..its voted as the best bangladesh restaurant in scotland in 2004 lah!!no wonder the food was soooo nice..
bh:hw many bangladesh restaurant are there in scotland?
us: hmm...ya horrrr....:p)

The next day..we went to St Andrews, a small town located on the east course of Fife, Scotland..

the golf course..y.leng told us that its the 1st golf course in the world, therefore the town is also known as the "house of golf"..

the wind was so strong that our hair was blown in different directions in 90% of the photos taken..
the notice we saw..
need to walk pass the golf course on the way to the beach, which is located very near to the golf course...

The West Sands, largest beaches in St Andrews..this was hw strong the wind could be..we could HEAR the sound and ACTUALLY SEE the sand MOVING very, very quickly...

after that..we walked pass the University of St Andrews..the first university in Scotland..yup..and also the university that PRINCE WILLIAM went to..

in the university..the buildings were all very historical and nice..with gardens surrounding it..wahhh..imagine prince william walked pass :))
taken in front of the St Andrews Castle..
St Andrews Castle is a picturesque ruin located in the coastal Royal Burgh of St Andrews Royal Burgh of St Andrews. The castle sits on a rocky promontory overlooking a small beach called Castle Sands and the adjoining North Sea.

the weather was good..and the scenery was simply unbelievable..:))

on the way to the St Andrews cathedral...(to take this group pic, alice's camera was put on the rubbish bin..hehe..)

The ruins of the Cathedral of St Andrew, at one time Scotland's largest building...

the place was serene and beautiful..so as usual..we took a lot of group pics using self-timer..

bergaya lerr??:P
we ate our lunch at around 3 sumthing at this cosy restaurant..rili starving...
luckily the food was delicious..especially the wedges+cheese+mayo+meat+pepper+duno wat else.. on the right..

managed to walk around the town area at St Andrews and tried their famous ice-cream before we left..
this was taken in the bus on the way back to Dundee..
kok hooi the main chef of da nite!!
~THANKS to kokhooi, y.leng,mok,seet..for coooking so much for us..*terharu sekali..haha..another great meal for us..
Llyod's bar for lunch on the next day...according to the dundee gang, they'd bring frens to the same place everytime when there's visitors..

After sending alice and bh off..we went to the discovery point..where there's this big ship..*1st ship to antartica if i remember correctly*..quote from yeeleng..

okay..according to kok hooi..there's a Tay Bridge and Tay hotel in dundee..and pohsen happily took photos there the last time he visited dundee..(but the Tay hotel sudah bancrupt and its just an abandoned building in the city..haha!) and thanks to us..mok went to discovery point FOR THE FIRST TIME though he'd been staying in dundee for half a year..and tak habis-habis wanna take pics..

alice, this is for u!!3 of us together with the penguins.. (alice=penguin)

since we had time..we went shopping in the shopping mall of dundee..
and yumcha at starbucks..
hehe..the Dundee trip was really fun and memorable thanks to the hospitality of the dundee gang and the sampat couple in aberdeen:P..and especially y.leng who din sleep on thus nite for her assignment but still semangat to bring us around..

thats the gate we climbed..the gate was taller than me!!
i wont forget the experience of running with the others to catch a bus for... 3 times..haha..cos somehow everytime we'll spent a long time toking and suddenly realised that we had not enough time..and had to start running..(the bus stop was 15 mins walk!!!!)
and the time when we need to catch a bus to st andrews..we actually need to use short-cut by CLIMBING the gate and continued running..wahlaooo..^-^

Paris Trip 2

at the Concorde..look at the2 hungry ppl..

Place de la Concorde..actually its just a pink granite obelisk in the middle of the square..

according to lonely planet, Muhammad Ali,viceroy and pasha of Egypt (not the muhammad ali that we noe)..gave it to France in 1831, but according to kailun..it was stolen from Egypt, dunno true or not..:P

see??im not that short...

taken on the way to the Louvre Museum..

Outside the Louvre..lol..i think we spent bout an hour walking around and snapping pics on the way to louvre..
hehe..this museum was the "must-go" place when i tot of going to paris, probably cos i've seen the amazing pics of it and of course, the influence of the "Da Vinci Code"..

okay..here's the Aphrodite, known as Venus de Milo, or "the Greek Goddess of Love and Beauty", one of the most famous Greek sculpture..

This is the Winged Victory of Samothrace..

The statue shows a mastery of form and movement which has impressed critics and artists since its discovery. It is particularly admired for its naturalism and for the fine rendering of the draped garments. It is considered one of the Louvre's greatest treasures-Wikipedia

wow..i din know that..this was among the 1st famous sculpture that we came across to..still semangat to look for the english explanation, which was ironically very brief compared to the french version..

Anyway..there were A LOT of paintings and sculptures EVERYWHERE..

and without the plan that listed down all the famous paintings and sculptures for us, i doubt we'd even know the difference between them..

probably most of the visitors there shared the same feeling as us..haha..i noticed that whenever there was a crowd surrounding a sculpture, others would come forward to take pics as well..talking bout crowd effect..haha..
okay...so this is ONE PAINTING that everyone knows..Leonardo da Vinci's mischievous La Joconde or the "MONA LISA", and according to many, her stare will follow u wherever u go..

alrite..the painting was sooo freaking small compared to other paintings, and there were LOTSA ppl trying to have a peak at it, but nobody could go near it..

hmm..not artistic enough to feel its significance..nor to FEEL her stare..:p

the painting behind us was much better, dont u think so? (it's called "The wedding feast at Cana" btw)

HAHA..sounds very knowledgable in art suddenly arr..cause we had "lonely planet" and the plan with us all the while..

we were kinda exhausted after few hours cos the place was SOOOOO BIIIIIIG..and the prob was that the description was mostly in french, so thanks to kailun cos he needs to translate to us..and the english version was kinda dry and factual..

"the museum fatigue can be a real problem at the Louvre..its one of the most famous but also among the most frustrating museum for the tourists..." remembered reading something like that from the lonely planet while we were resting..

theory well proven by kailun and pun..(actually sc and i were very tired as well..haha!)

one last pic at the Louvre before we gave up and left for good..

The Cathedrale de Notre Dame de Paris (Cathedral of Our Lady of Paris)..

The true heart of Paris as distance from Paris to every part of France are measured from place du Parvis Notre Dame, the square in front of Notre Dame..

the cathedral is AWESOME!!!French Gothic architecture, stunning stained-glass rose windows, gargoyles..really very impressive..we did go in and there were a lot of worshippers in the cathedral..
Eiffel Tower...again..

eiffel tower is sooo nice!!
we've taken soo many pics in front of eiffel tower..kinda tough though...we need to squat and smile, while the photographer needs to bend to the max..

pun: eh..how come gt moon inside the pic?
us: ya horr..how come??
(look at the pic for few seconds, look at the surrounding..look at the pic again..)
sc:HOI!!thats tiang lampu lar woi!!

Went for river cruise for an hour..it was so funny cos initially, everyone wanted to be on the deck and as time passed by, more and more ppl went to the sheltered area cos of the strong wind..and at the end..we were the remaining few on the deck..shivering to the max at the end of the cruise..C~O~L~D~~~

the famous Moulin Rouge..

met up with joe as well...
anyway..the whole street was full of sex shops, shows etc..bt we as good kids..oni walked around to have a look nia larr..
One of the best part of the trip..
the food...yup..we treated ourselves with good food throughout the trip..tried french cuisine e.g escargots, the "meal with pork cooked in different ways" (oops..forgot the french term liao..), nice french bread..vietnamese food..japanese food..
the best part of the trip??

definitely the companions that i had..:)))

still feels great when i blogged bout the trip..enjoyed every moment tat we've spent there..:)
